My New Dad

This week was an awesome week to be a missionary. I have learned so much and built so many relationships with missionaries in my zone and members in my ward. Regarding the subject line, there is a family in the ward named the Almendariz family. They are super awesome to us and feed us a lot. I found out that Brother Almendariz is the same age as my parents, so he took me in as his son, and I look up to him like my dad. The whole family is awesome!

Other great news: I got my first pair of cowboy boots. Kind of sad that I'm saying this because I live on a farm haha. Since we are in the countryside part of Cali, all the Elders wear cowboy boots. It's awesome, and they are handy when I do service. Also, it's been raining and lightning for the last few days, so they have come in clutch.

Another funny thing: as a missionary, we can't use slang like bro, dude, man, guys, pal, brother, brotha, nizzle, and so much more. I struggle with all of these haha. Every time I say one of these, my companion and I do push-ups every night. We average almost 30 push-ups every night right now. It's a struggle haha. I also did a companionship exchange this week. I got to go to lunch with a YSA member from my zone leader's area. We got to lunch, and I actually knew the guy we were eating with. I don't have his name, but he served in Melba, Idaho, and ate dinner in my kitchen!! Small world. He told me that when he was released as a missionary, he was told in his prayer that he would see someone from his mission again. Pretty cool. He seems to be struggling with the gospel a little, and we taught a great lesson to him, and the spirit was THERE! Hopefully, this experience will help him get back on the straight and narrow path again!

As far as missionary work goes, things are kind of slow but busy! We are busy every second of every day, but we are mainly just getting to know everyone in Georgetown because my companion and I are being whitewashed in. We do have some amazing news, though: we have two baptisms this coming Sunday, Adam and his son Kingston! They are super excited to be baptized, and we have finished teaching the lessons with them today actually! If you could add them to your prayers, that would be great!

As far as the spiritual side of the mission, it is awesome! I have never felt so close to God. I get to wake up every day and take Jesus Christ's name upon me and spread the good word. The spirit is always so strong, and I am always learning new things every day from the spirit. The thing that I am most grateful for this week is prayer. I have taught many lessons this week on prayer. As I have prayed and studied about prayer, I know that God hears our prayers. I know that no matter what we pray for and how simple the prayer may be, God wants to hear us. I know that as we remember to pray to God in our highest highs and lowest lows, God will never forget us in our struggles.

As I have said before, my companion is amazing. He continues to amaze me every day and pushes me to be a better missionary. His diligence, humility, and desire to be obedient and an outstanding missionary is a great example to me. Overall, this was another successful week as a missionary. Thanks for reading!

Peace Y'all!
