My Weight Loss Program

Howdy y'all!

Welcome to my weekly email! This was a great week again in the Sacramento California mission! However, we didn't get much done...

To start, I am no longer sick. But my companion got sick - big time! We spent the whole week in our cabin taking naps because he was feeling terrible. Once he finally started feeling better, he had completely lost his voice! But we were determined to go out anyway. On Friday, when we went out, I did all the talking the whole day because my companion literally couldn't talk. It was a crazy day, but I grew a lot, that's for sure. It wasn't until just last Saturday that we were finally able to go out full-time, both feeling well and able to talk to people. Luckily, as soon as we went out, we saw miracles!

On Sunday, we met some really cool people. We met a guy named Brandon. We knocked on his door to find out that the inactive member who lived there had moved. Brandon is going through a lot right now. He told us that he had been praying to God that something good would happen, and then we showed up! He said that normally, he would just say "not interested" and be really cranky. He also said that we were lucky to catch him at home because he is always gone, working and busy. We shared some scripture with him, and it really resonated. He even said we could come back and talk more! What a miracle!

Monday was also a great day. We taught three lessons, and they all went really well. The first was with a guy named Michael. He has some addiction issues with smoking that he can't quite overcome. We talked, shared some inspired scripture and messages from President Nelson, gave him a blessing, and when we left, he was in tears. He promised to read the Book of Mormon and apply our advice to his life.

The next visit was with a guy named John, a pot head who is super nice and hilarious. He loves to talk about the Bible and scripture and loves when we come by. We had the chance to talk to him about his weaknesses, and I had the thought to share Ether 12:27 (I don't like to share this verse because it's the typical verse missionaries share, haha). But I opened my scriptures, and it landed right on that page - and I wasn't even looking for it! I knew I had to share the scripture, and that God had made me land on that page. I shared the verse, and it hit him hard. He told us he loved that verse so much and that the verse chastised him and he was prompted that he needs to come to church and read the Book of Mormon. I gave him my copy, and he promised to read it! It was a great lesson and spiritual experience.

Funny highlights of the week: I have lost 12 pounds on the mission! So that's hype, lol. I've found that if your stomach is hurting and you're hungry, that means you're losing weight. Don't worry, I'm getting fed enough, haha. Also, the second counselor in the bishopric, who is also my new "dad," wore a kilt to church on Sunday for Saint Patrick's Day. I got a pic with him, and I'll put it below, haha. Finally, not funny though, I have officially been out for two months on my mission. I am also staying in my area for the second transfer, which starts Thursday, and my trainer is now the District Leader, so this is all hype news!

This mission has been great so far. It's so crazy to see how many miracles we see just in the span of a couple of days. It was really sad and depressing to stay inside all week because we were sick, but the Lord still provided us with miracles right when we got back out. I know that the Lord will never forget us and that He loves us. I know that this church is true, and the BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE! Every day that I read it consistently, it testifies to that over and over again.

I love you all and I am so grateful for all you do. Be safe, and may the force be with you!
