Too Broke For Meds

Howdy y'all!

Welcome back to my weekly email. This was another great week to be a missionary! So much cool stuff and miracles happened this week.

I'll get the worst part out of the way first - I've been sick all weekend. After church on Sunday, I had to take a nap and rest because I was super sick. On Monday, we weren't able to go out at all because I was so sick. It's going around, as we know many people we've visited who are also sick. Also, I'm out of money for the week, so I havent been able to aford medicine so thats an L (haha). No worries though, I made it this far so I'm good lol.

Other than this, the week has been awesome. We got a boy named Juaquin on date to be baptized on April 7th, so that's hype. We also had a miracle with someone we're teaching named Eboni. She's been sick for a week and couldn't go to church or have lessons this week. She's also been missing our calls and texts, which was worrisome. We asked some people in our ward to make cookies for us (haha), and we delivered them last night as a way to get into their home. She was so happy to see us! This is the big miracle: she went out and got her own Book of Mormon because she saw us carrying them around. That was so hype! We marked a chapter for her to read, and she's super excited to read it because she loves to read books.

Some cool things about this week: I get to play basketball every day on P-day. Due to mission rules, we can't play to a score because it makes it too competitive, apparently. So, we don't ever stop the clock and play for like 3-4 hours straight every P-day, full court. It's so lit, but we all end up losing around 4-5 pounds every P-day (haha). Also, something cool: there's a store called the Main Street Mercantile in Georgetown that has a bunch of old random stuff. I found a box of baseball cards from 1982 thats a 1962 limited eddition 20th anniversary for $5! It also came with a piece of bubble gum too. I looked it up online, and it's a crazy find. Should make me some money after my mission. It has some cool cards, like Mickey Mantle and George Brett, among others (if you know who they are, haha). I also had a Moose burger this week, so that was legit. It was yummy, and I highly recommend it for real.

Me and my companion also made a video for our whole zone to watch. A companionship gets picked weekly to make a video with all the numbers/stats based on our goals for each week. We were picked to make the video this week. You're supposed to be creative and make the video fun and funny. So, me and my companion made a video fishing at a member's pond. It was a hype video, and it turned out pretty good, I think (haha).

To end, I'll talk about my favorite part of the week, which was zone conference. This conference was a miracle for me. I had questions on my mind that I had been praying about for quite some time. This conference opened my eyes and taught me that I had the answer the whole time. I teach people about 3 Nephi 11:3-6, which talks about receiving answers to prayers and understanding how God talks to us. In these verses, Jesus speaks to the Nephites three times, and they didn't understand or hear his voice. It wasn't until the third time he spoke to them that they understood. I teach this with prayer all the time to people, telling them that prayer takes consistency and sometimes the answer is there, but we don't understand it. That was the case for me. I had the answer to my prayer the whole time, but I wasn't understanding it. Zone conference helped me realize this. It helped me realize that the verse I teach people, I wasn't applying it to my own life.

If I've learned anything on my mission thus far, it's that prayer is a miracle. God hears our prayers, and God answers our prayers. Sometimes we don't get answers to prayers because he wants us to learn something or because he wants us to pray more often. Sometimes, he does answer our prayers, but we don't understand or like the answer we get.

Overall, this was an amazing week, I know that the mission will keep getting beter. Thank you all for your emails, they are the only thing keeping me entertained through out the week (haha).

Love you all and peace!
