Giving Homeless People My Debit Card By Accident

Hello everyone,

It's been a week of mixed emotions, change, excitement, and learning. I've also consumed a lot of quesadillas! I said goodbye to people in Georgetown, which was bittersweet. I've included some photos below. On my last day in the area, we had two lunches, one dinner, and one dessert - all in one day. We basically just ate all day haha.

My new area has been great, though. I've been doing a lot of street contacts, which has been a learning process, but I've improved quickly. The ward I'm in is very small - only 37 people attended church on Sunday in a huge chapel. The ward is a bit strange, but there are some amazing people here! I live in an apartment with three other elders, and since we didn't get a chance to shop after transfers, I've been eating eggs and quesadillas every day. I'm looking forward to shopping on P-day!

On Saturday, we had a tough day. We're on bikes, and we go out regardless of the weather. It was pouring rain most of the day, and the temperature dropped from 88 degrees to 52 degrees from Friday to Saturday. We were soaked and freezing while biking. And, just because a jacket says it's waterproof doesn't mean it actually is! We ended up doing three hours of service to get out of the rain and helped someone disassemble and transport a bed. We picked up the beed from someone who had passed away, and they were selling everything in the house. When we finished, they let us take whatever we wanted from the house for free because the rest was being donated so that was hype! I got some cool stuff, including a spatula, which is great because ours at the apartment is melted. Back to the bikes, they aren't great, but they're good for my legs, which are definitely getting stronger. And, my MTC companion is in my zone, so that's awesome!

Now, for the miracle story: we were biking home and saw a guy hobbling down the road. We stopped to see how he was doing, and long story short, he had jumped out of a car because his brother was driving erratically. He's over 60 years old and was trying to get to the bus stop. We walked almost a mile with him, but the bus wasn't coming that night. We couldn't leave him there, so we decided to call him an Uber. It took almost two hours to finally get him a ride. I had to put my personal debit card on his Uber app, which we downloaded and created an email for. When I tried to remove my card, it wouldn't let me! I have no idea if he's homeless or not. The last thing he said to us was, "Do you have any cash?" We've set up a time to talk with him more this Saturday, six days later. Hopefully, he doesn't rob me lol. It was a really cool contact though. He was so grateful and even cried in our arms, saying he needed help and felt like he should tell us. We hope we can help him! He told us how impressed he was with is, not to waste our lives, and how much a miracle it was that we came to help him. He made us put our number in his phone because he wants to learn more about God so that is hype!

Overall, it's been a crazy week with a lot of learning experiences. I'm learning more and more each day how to teach by the Spirit. There are many more crazy stories, but I can't fit them all into this email. I love you all, and have a great week!
