Getting Dunked On By 13 Year Olds
This was a crazy week for missionary work. Last week, I told y'all that we were going to pop the question to somebody and invite them to get baptized...well, appearently, she is wanted in Iran. She lead a womans right movement and is muslim so she cant leave her faith. By teaching her, we are litterally putting her in danger of being killed...bruh moment. Lakesides first potential baptism in years happens to be wanted in Iran. AINT NO WAY!!
We also lost our next progressing friend named Oliver. He is 15, he asked us at a park out of the blue to get baptized. Well, we found out that he lives outside of our area. Thankfully, I got to refer them to my trainer Elder Bartholomew, who is a dawg, but Oliver blocked them. Now Oliver is no longer being taught by any missionary's. We gonna try to rizz him up gospel style here soon, we not done with them yet.
Now, with all this crazy, it gets crazier. Every single lesson that we had planned this last week, all canceled once we showed up. Satan is trying to keep these sheep lost for real. However, with all of this, we still had a great week! We started teaching 3 new people. Started teaching 2 people who used to be taught. And me and my comp got to meet so many cool people.
For example, we met a guy named marvin. Me and my comp challenged these two teenagers to a game of 2v2 basketball. We did not get dunked on. That was click bait haha. Get pranked. However, we got cooked, 5-11, massive L. However, a bystander that witnessed this embarassment, is interested in our church. He asked where our church was and said that hes going to bring his three kids to church as well! LESS GOO! HYPE! Also, AL came to church this Sunday and he is awesome. The ward loved having him there.
Finnally, I officially got my golf clubs that a member promised me. I will be hitting the green on P-days now for sure! Also, members alwasy ask what we want for dinner. I always ask for the same thing, oowy goowy butter cake. This member called my mom, got the recipe, and made it for me and dropped it off Monday night! W member for real. She will go down in the history books. Also, shout out to my Sister Kariessa for sending a 12 pack of Dr Pepper cream coconut through the mail. 30$ for a 12 pack may be over priced, but you can't put a price tag on me the other Elders happiness drinking thoughs cans for real.
Another cool experience this week. Our mission President called, we were kinda freaked out because transfer news was supposed to come that day. Appearently our Bishop texted our mission President personally and said how much he has loved me and my companion in the ward. He said that we have earned there trust and the ward council loves us. Presidents words, "he was begging me to let y'all stay in the Lakeside ward". Pretty cool experience for real! We have worked hard to gain this trust, it's nice seen the fruits of our labors!
My favorite verse from the week is this:
3 Nephi 18
24 Therefore, hold up your light that it may shine unto the world. Behold I am the light which ye shall hold up—that which ye have seen me do. Behold ye see that I have prayed unto the Father, and ye all have witnessed.
I love this verse because it reminds me of my purpose as a missionary. My job is to hold that light and testify of Jesus Christ. I have seen that has I have held that light, it has blessed my life as well as the life of others I have met. The light of Christ is the most influencial and powerful things we can come to know of in our lives.
Thank you all for you replies this last week, much appreciated for real. Take care y'all!
