My First Couch

Image
Boy do I have some news for y'all! I got my first lazy boy couch this week, and a light saber, and a massager for free at a members yard sale! Also, we gave away 7 Book of Mormons and have some serious potentials this week. I will start with the miracels we saw this week. We had the whole ward pray this week that we will be able to get missionary work going, but specifically to give 6 Book of Mormons away this week. We ended up giving 7 away and they went to awesome people. All of them were super great people who are excited to read from it.  The first was Hammad from Afghanistan. He had to escape his country to america by working with US special forces as a translator. He lives here now and has an interest in religion and does not like his he has grown up in. We had a great talk and he has committed to reading from the Bookf of Mormon.  The next hype guy is Jay. He has a sweet corvette outside his house so I went to take pics with it when he walked out side. I said, I like yo...

Elder Kaden Rosenlund

Dear President Hunter,   I serve as mission president in the California Sacramento Mission.  It’s my privilege to serve with Elder Kaden  Rosenlund  from your stake.  When I began serving almost a year ago, I vowed that I would occasionally write to stake presidents (with a copy to parents) to tell them about their amazing missionaries.  As stake president, you often hear when a missionary is struggling.  I’m writing to thank you and the Rosenlunds for sending this remarkable missionary to us!   Elder  Rosenlund  is a true disciple of Jesus Christ.  He is focused, diligent, obedient, and a consecrated representative of the Savior.  He is kind to all around him.  We are so grateful to serve with him.  You may know that I receive a weekly letter from each missionary.  Upon Elder  Rosenlund  transferring to a new area a few weeks ago, this is what Elder  Rosenlund ’s companion wrote to me about him no...

Miracles-No Cap No Kizzy

Howdy y'all This was a great week in the mission field. We saw so many miracles this week and so much happened! From teaching new people while smoking their bongs, to grandmas calling their grandkids to repentance before they die, to people we are teaching that are moving to India that cried while reading the Book of Mormon, miracles are happening. The first amazing miracle was with our new friends Lucas and Miciah. Me and my comp decided that we were going to make goals and teach someone new on wednesday. While out tracking, talking to every breathing soul, we met these two people. We had a great conversation with them, gave the Book of Mormons, and scheduled another lesson with them! Miciah said she has been trying to grow closer to God and find a church, and we showed up. She says that God has helped her to get off hard drugs. (they were both smoking bongs when we showed up haha). That was a miracle for real. The next miracle was with a person named Beonca. Met her while street ...

We Started A Fire....

Shallom, Crazy week. Not a lot happend but also at the same time a lot happened. My area has been super slow, probably the slowest week I have had yet on the mission so far. However, there were still little small miracles happening all around us so lets go! First things first, we started a fire on exchanges burning pictures of my exchange companion who's girl friend posted pictures with another man. He had a tough night sleep and week. So the only solutions was to burn everything that reminded him of her. In the process our apartment got filled with smoke and the alarms went off. We had to run outside with the pot containing the fire. It was crazy but super funny haha. On the exchange we saw lots of miracels. We taught lessons. We started teaching two new people, and gave out a book of mormon. It was a hype day. We also ate taco bell. Speaking of that. My comps told me that if I eat anything on my birthday, it wont make me gain weight. So obviously I trusted them. So I ate nearly a...

Giving Homeless People My Debit Card By Accident

Hello everyone, It's been a week of mixed emotions, change, excitement, and learning. I've also consumed a lot of quesadillas! I said goodbye to people in Georgetown, which was bittersweet. I've included some photos below. On my last day in the area, we had two lunches, one dinner, and one dessert - all in one day. We basically just ate all day haha. My new area has been great, though. I've been doing a lot of street contacts, which has been a learning process, but I've improved quickly. The ward I'm in is very small - only 37 people attended church on Sunday in a huge chapel. The ward is a bit strange, but there are some amazing people here! I live in an apartment with three other elders, and since we didn't get a chance to shop after transfers, I've been eating eggs and quesadillas every day. I'm looking forward to shopping on P-day! On Saturday, we had a tough day. We're on bikes, and we go out regardless of the weather. It was pouring rain mo...
